INDIVIDUAL MINISTRY

Spiritual Direction is a process of "holy listening." When you chose to seek spiritual direction, we will set up a one hour appointment. The first appointment is for getting to know each other and discussing the expectations of the directee and director. If there is a sense that, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, there is "comfortability" (as companions together,
we may be able to hear and grow towards the Lord's desires for the directee), then a series of six one-hour appointments
will be set up. These are usually weekly or bi-weekly at the same day/time.

Spiritual Direction is a totally confidential relationship between two companions in the presence of God. Both director
and directee agree to a vow of confidentiality regarding any information that comes up during their discussion and
through prayer with each other. Nothing will ever be discussed outside of the sessions.

At each session there will be times of silence, times of prayer, and times of clarification through discussion. As the
directee, you can expect to raise up issues that are getting in the way of your relationship with God. Looking at
the issues together, through the lenses of Scripture, tradition, reasonable discussion and listening for direction by
the Holy Spirit, the way is opened for discernment. There may be exercises suggested for you and/or Scriptures or
other readings that might help in reflection and contemplation on an area in which you would like to grow.

The final session is one of evalutation by directee and director. We will look back on the portion of your life
journey we have "walked" together. We may discuss where you as the directee might go from this point. Often
the directee may elect not to continue direction at this time - sometimes another spiritual director, who could bring
you to grow in another area, may be recommended.

NOTE: Spiritual Direction is not pastoral counseling. You must
be worshiping regularly with a Christian community. When private
or familiy issues indicate the need to seek out your clergy, do not
substitute your director. Spiritual Direction is not crisis intervention
or a place to "dump" life's grumps. This is a time to seek the
guidance of the Holy Spirit as you seek a closer relationship
between your soul and God.
